Archaeological Highlights in Berlin
Museum Island is home to several museums showcasing the archaeological finds of past expeditions, many led by German explorers. For example, the Pergamon Museum is home to the Pergamon Altar, which in reality is so large that it ought to be called a temple. You can then explore the artefacts of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine antiquity. You can go back even further back in time at the Neues Museum, full of pieces from the highpoints of ancient Egypt, including the world-famous bust of Queen Nefertiti.
