Special Exhibition

To mark the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, we are showing our exhibitions >What is a sea of candles?< and >Parole: Sparks fly!

Children have interviewed their neighbors, grandparents and parents. Because many people still remember the time when the border divided Germany and the feeling of the opening of the Wall on November 9, 1989.

But the Wall didn't fall just like that: many courageous people demonstrated for change in the GDR. In the beginning there were only a few courageous people, but later more and more people took to the streets. They demonstrated for an open country with free people. Many held candles in their hands as a sign of their peaceful intentions. The people achieved their goal and the GDR government lost power.

Do you know anyone who was there back then? What does your grandpa or your neighbor have to tell about that time? Go ahead - ask them and light your own spark together. Because courage does you good!Translated with DeepL
