Experience films up-close in Berlin
Golden, silver, and crystal bears as well as teddy bears are awarded at the city's Berlinale international film festival each February. Awards tend to go to films that address socially critical issues or are auteur pieces. Once the weather is warm enough, works of outstanding quality are also shown in the city's numerous open-air cinemas, for example in the government district or in the Bethanien arts quarter. Gema also organises regular film screenings in other locations beyond the city's numerous cinemas. Attend live lectures or experience multi-vision shows full of special effects, such as the film about the history of the Brandenburg Gate. Also exciting for film fans is the Museum for Film and Television at the Deutsche Kinemathek and its film archive.
