As one of the first German feature films to address the fate of Jewish persecution, the film depicts the journey of a Jewish person from Poland who survived the Holocaust and is searching for his mother. He and other displaced persons (DPs) struggle for a new life and hope for a future in the State of Israel, which did not yet exist at the time of filming.
- Knut Elstermann in conversation with Rachel Salamander and Daniel Jonah Wolpert
To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe, the New Synagogue Berlin – Centrum Judaicum Foundation, together with Urania Berlin e.V. and the Jewish Film Festival Berlin Brandenburg, is presenting a special film series.
