This year 2025, the world-famous Museum Island in the heart of Berlin is celebrating its 200th anniversary! The unique historical ensemble of buildings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, comprises five major museums. In July 1825, construction began on the Alten Museum, which is the centre of attention this year.
But five museums deserve a five-year anniversary: With numerous high-calibre special exhibitions and many events and open-air events, the Museum Island is celebrating five years from this summer! Each year will focus on a different building, with a very special highlight in 2027: Don't miss the reopening of a large section of the Pergamonmuseum, where you can experience the famous Pergamon Altar, the Collection of Classical Antiquities and the Museum of Islamic Art with the grand architecture of the Mshatta façade!
