Gert Eckel: UNTER DEM REGENBOGEN - published by OSBURG VERLAG - is a gripping novel about the odyssey of a painting through the 20th century. It is also a history of the Jewish world in Berlin - right up to the present day.


In the middle of Berlin: an assassination attempt has taken place and terrorists have claimed responsibility. The streets of the city center are lit up at night. A small child is dead, another survives only because of the accidental failure to repair a painting from the interwar years.

Its story begins in a Berlin salon frequented by Nelly Sachs, Albert Einstein, Lion Feuchtwanger, Bertolt Brecht and the art dealer Bruno Cassirer, among others.

Arthur Segal, the painter of the "degenerate" picture and an important artist in Berlin between 1910 and 1933, was forced to leave Germany after the Nazis seized power and entrusted the painting with the striking rainbow to the hostess...
