Since 2019, the Künstlerhof Frohnau (KHF) and the Department of Art and History Reinickendorf have been awarding the Ruckhaberle Prize, which commemorates the work of the artist, curator and cultural politician Dieter Ruckhaberle. In addition to this exhibition, the prize also includes a residency and a publication.

Previous winners have been: Nafis Fatollahzadeh (2023), Uliana Bychenkova & Anna Scherbyna (2022), Surya Gied (2021), Annette Frick (2020), Luiza Prado (2019).

In times of heated political debates, decreasing tolerance and an increasing shift to the right in society, the Ruckhaberle Prize emphasizes the importance of open spaces for art and discourse for the critical reflection of the present.

In this context, the prize honors visual artists living in Germany who, through their work, find convincing ways to demonstrate complex or little-noticed social contexts and thus contribute to a differentiated understanding of our time.

This year's jury for the Ruckhaberle Prize consisted of:

  • Kaya Behkalam, artist and board member of Künstlerhof Frohnau e.V.
  • Dr. Gürsoy Doğtaş, curator and author
  • Rike Frank, co-director of the European Kunsthalle and managing director of the Berlin Artistic Research Grant Program
  • Johanna M. Keller, program officer at the Academy of Arts, Berlin
  • Dr. Sabine Ziegenrücker, head of the Department of Art and History Reinickendorf

Curator of the exhibition: Sandra Teitge
