Ecumenical choir project for emergency pastoral care
A new ecumenical choir project in the south of Berlin shows that choral music successfully connects the different denominations. Since the beginning of the year, an ecumenical project choir with over 50 singers from the Protestant parish of Marienfelde and the Catholic parish of Vom guten Hirten has been rehearsing the pop oratorio “Luther” by Dieter Falk and Michael Kunze.

After the successful collaboration for the choral musical “Amazing Grace”, Michael Geese (production and project management) and cantor David Menge (choir director) are tackling another demanding modern work with “Luther”.
The pop oratorio focuses on Luther’s negotiations with the church and the state before the Reichstag in Worms. This also raises critical questions, for example who Luther actually was and why his story is still important today.
Arranged for a large choir and solo ensemble, scenic songs, choral parts in a new musical context and many "catchy tunes" with profound, faith-filled texts are performed in a lively sound between rock and pop, jazz and gospel, making the Luther Pop Oratorio a special experience.

The net proceeds from all four performances will be donated to the interdenominational emergency pastoral care service in Berlin.
