Get ready for an unforgettable summer of football in the German capital! With a little luck, you can now win a European Football Championship final weekend in Berlin.
Find out everything you need to know about UEFA EURO 2024 and what else awaits you during the big summer of soccer in Berlin here.
After the Olympic Games, the Football World Cup, the Cricket World Cup and the Super Bowl, the UEFA EURO 2024 is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. This statistically calculated ranking is based on the number of spectators worldwide. And depending on the match, that's up to 380 million people!
During the tournament period from 14 June to 14 July, the football teams will compete against each other over 22 days. A total of 51 football matches will take place in ten German cities, six of them in Berlin's Olympic Stadium, including the grand final on 14 July.
Here is the overview:
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has announced the 27 candidates for his European Championship squad, but as the final squad can only include 26 players, there are still a few wobbly candidates.
With 74,474 seats, the Olympiastadion Berlin is the largest venue for this year's European Football Championship.
By comparison, the Munich Football Arena has 67,000 seats, Dortmund has 61,534, followed by Stuttgart with 50,998 and Hamburg with 50,215. Other venues are Cologne (46,635 seats), Frankfurt am Main (48,057 seats), Gelsenkirchen (49,471 seats), Düsseldorf (46,264 seats) and Leipzig (46,635 seats).
The history of the Olympiastadion Berlin
Built between 1934 and 1936 - during the National Socialist era - for the 1936 Summer Olympics, it is also the oldest stadium in which the UEFA EURO 2024 will be played.
The Olympiastadion Berlin is located in the west of the city in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. You can easily reach the Olympiastadion by public transport. It is only a short walk from the railway stations to the entrances.
There are 74,475 seats in the Olympiastadion Berlin, of which 38,020 are in the lower ring and 36,455 in the upper ring.
Catering is available at 12 kiosks each in the lower ring and upper ring, as well as in mobile kiosks in the outdoor area.
Is the Olympiastadion Berlin barrier-free?
In principle, the Olympiastadion Berlin is barrier-free and also accessible for people with limited mobility. However, unrestricted mobility is not always possible within the blocks, as some areas are only accessible via stairs.
There are currently 170 spaces for wheelchair users in the walkway between the upper and lower tiers, with four barrier-free toilets on the same level.
For the European Championships, the Olympiastadion Berlin will be further optimised in terms of accessibility. New wheelchair spaces are to be created in almost all of the stands by the start of the games, with a total increase of 36 per cent. There will also be hundreds of new seats for people with physical disabilities. These are wider or have special padding, for example.
For the blind and visually impaired, there are 50 seats in Block P with match commentary via headphones.
You can find more information about accessibility in Berlin here.
The Brandenburg Gate is being transformed into the world's largest football goal for what is probably the biggest fan zone in the world. And the green artificial turf will be rolled out in front of it. On this gigantic playing field, you can meet up for public viewing and celebrate the summer of football. There will also be concerts, open-air cinema, DJ sets, performances, exhibitions and much more to experience. Look forward to the grand opening show on 12 June in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
Fan Zone Brandenburg Gate:
The official Fan Zone in Berlin is located in the Tiergarten district of Berlin and runs from Brandenburger Tor via Straße des 17. Juni to Große Querallee. This makes the Berlin Fan Zone the largest in the world. Fittingly, the Brandenburg Gate will become the largest football goal in the world and will also be used as a broadcast screen. Green grass will be rolled out in front of the goal for a pop-up park, which will offer many activities and events for football fans, guests and Berliners.

Tickets for Activities and Events during the UEFA EURO 2024
Under the motto "EURO 2024 will be our game", Berlin is focussing on climate protection, anti-discrimination and inclusion at the European Football Championships - and also wants to serve as a practical example for future events.
In addition to large, infrastructural projects such as the removal of barriers, new drinking fountains and bicycle parking spaces, the use of solar energy or the implementation of a circular economy, many exciting small projects are being initiated at district level that aim to achieve a lot together locally.
For example, as part of "Euro24 - Clean Game" in Mitte, Berlin guests will be informed about the topic of reusable packaging by trained staff in costume. Champions ohne Grenzen is launching a sports and health programme for refugee women aged 45 and over, while Buntkicktgut invites young people from all backgrounds to get active at KiezKick. Street football, graffiti and hip hop workshops are planned.
