At this symposium, contemporary witnesses of the 1990s and younger actors come together to exchange their experiences and discuss continuities and changes.
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the event reflects how the upheavals after 1989/1990 were experienced on both an individual and collective level.
- What losses had to be accepted?
- Where was the integration possible in a constructive way? What impact did economic structures have?
- Does a specific Eastern art scene exist today, and if so, what characteristics characterize it?
- How is the institutional art landscape in eastern Germany structured, and how present are curators and artists with an East German biography in cultural institutions?
These questions form the starting point for the symposium in the Hamburger Bahnhof, which was located directly next to the Berlin Wall during the division of Germany. The aim is to strengthen networks and formulate concrete ideas and wishes for the future.
PROGRAM
The symposium is open to the public and can be attended free of charge without registration. The event will be held in German; simultaneous translation German – English and German sign language.
