In the autumn of 1861, the southern French silk merchant Hervé Joncour sets off on an arduous journey to Japan to buy silkworms. There he meets an enigmatic beauty who only gives him furtive glances and a brief message - but that is enough to ignite Hervé's passion.

Year after year he returns to Japan without ever hearing the voice of this girl. It is only many years later that he begins to understand what really happened.

"Silk" is a staged reading from the book of the same name by Alessandro Baricco, which takes place under the mulberry tree of Lübars, in the village and in the adjacent fields. Hervé Joncour's travels merge with the impressions of the summer expanse of the landscape.
