Dance theatre by Cécile Ströhla

In a compelling dance narrative, Shadow Realities guides the audience through the dark streets of the night, where four dancers of the CeCe Dance Company reveal their individual stories. Here, they encounter the pervasive shadows of inequality and discrimination that women and Flinta* experience in the 21st century.

As they navigate the nighttime paths alone, the dancers explore the fears and challenges faced by women and Flinta* in the darkness. The journey home at night becomes a symbol of the ongoing gender inequality in this society.

Shadow Realities exposes the uncomfortable realities in our male-dominated society, encountered by women and Flinta* on the streets and in everyday situations.

Whether through persistent sexism, misogynistic prejudices, or patriarchal structures, the dancers delve into the shadows of realities, their gestures shifting between dynamic resilience and gentle fluidity, defying patriarchal structures while simultaneously challenging them.

Through Shadow Realities, many women and Flinta* may see themselves reflected in this issue, while men have the opportunity to experience such situations from a "different perspective".

*The German acronym FLINTA (Frauen, Lesben, inter*, nicht-binäre, trans* und agender Personen) stands for “women, lesbians, inter*, non-binary, trans*, and agender individuals.”
