For the third time, the Lichtenberg district office is organising a Queer Action Week in cooperation with local initiatives, cultural organisations and institutions.
From 12 to 18 May 2025, queer topics, locations and activists will be the focus of a diverse programme. Workshops, theatre performances, comedy, discussion panels, readings, film screenings, counselling services and exhibitions are planned.
The week between two key days of action for the queer community was deliberately chosen: 14 May is Magnus Hirschfeld Day and 17 May is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT).
The focus of the Lichtenberg Action Week is on local issues and history. The Lichtenberg Museum, together with historians Andreas Pretzel and Karl-Heinz Steinle, will present the initial results of a research project that highlights queer history and stories in the district – from historical figures to current developments.
- The action week will open on Monday, 12 May 2025, at 9 a.m. with the raising of the rainbow flag in front of Lichtenberg Town Hall.
