On May 7, 2025, the Mitte Museum will open the special exhibition "Der Krieg und Ich. War children 1939-1945" in the museum garden.

Three walk-in containers in the museum garden invite the public to interactively explore the lives and wartime experiences of children from Germany, France and the USSR between 1939 and 1945. District Mayor Stefanie Remlinger and the director of the Mitte Museum Nathan Friedenberg will speak.

The exhibition project focuses on the lives and wartime experiences of children during the Second World War.

Three walk-in containers in the museum garden invite the public to interactively explore the experiences of children from Germany, France and the USSR between 1939 and 1945. Objects can be touched and tried out in the themed rooms, complemented by audio documents and historical film clips. Young visitors in particular are encouraged to think about how the topics of flight and war also affect their own lives.

The opening of the exhibition is part of the city-wide theme week 80 Years of the End of the War, initiated and funded by the state of Berlin and realized by Kulturprojekte Berlin with numerous partners.
