NoonSong - Song & Prayer

This third Advent is all about darkness and light. And who could express
the hope for light and redemption better than the Italian Renaissance prince
Carlo Gesualdo, who is known for his outrageously chromatic music - and for his
murder of his unfaithful wife. His ‘Benedictus’, however, dispenses with
dramatic chromaticism and sounds profoundly meditative.

  • Preces: Duncan Faulkner (1951-): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 102 Orlando di Lasso (ca. 1532-1594): Domine exaudi orationem meam
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 85 Adriano Banchieri (1569-1634): Veritas de terra
  • Canticum: Carlo Gesualdo (1566-1613): Benedictus
  • Choral: Jürgen Essl (1961-): Die Nacht ist vorgedrungen

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure.  Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music. The repertoire ranges from music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions.
