From Viennese coffee houses to taxis in Miami to rooftop amusement parks in Tokyo: Over a period of more than 50 years, Dutch photographer and photojournalist Eddy Posthuma de Boer has captured people reading newspapers all over the world.

In the midst of busy cityscapes, readers merge with their newspapers for a moment. Eddy Posthuma de Boer recalls an analogue, yet mobile world of information and news, which he documented in public spaces such as streets, stairs, park benches, shops and cafés.

In the cabinet exhibition "Newspaper Readers", the Museum for Communication Berlin is showing around 80 of his photographs from August 21, 2024 to January 12, 2025.

Eddy Posthuma de Boer (1931–2021) worked for many years for the Dutch daily newspapers Het Parool and de Volkskrant as well as for magazines such as Holland Herald and Time Life.

Together with his friend and colleague, the writer Cees Nooteboom, he traveled the world for the magazine Avenue.
