"It started with a realization: we hated pink! We grew up hating and rejecting pink, even though we come from very different cultural and geographical backgrounds. A color that we "should" actually love. Because pink was a symbol of everything feminine: delicate, graceful, beautiful... but isn't the rejection of femininity also an admission of patriarchy? Who can femininity belong to? How can we free ourselves from societal expectations and discover our true desires."
Join the fight to free the color pink from the clutches of decades of appropriation as a symbol of questionable definitions of femininity.
Under the rebellious cry "We hate pink!" the group combines dance, theater and lecture performance formats to create a playful and ironic critique of how femininity is perceived and cultivated. It is an invitation to question their way of moving and arranging bodies and faces, appearing and disappearing, and to consider when they take up space or hide.
How can they reclaim pink, reclaim femininity, redefine femininity for themselves?
The motto of the "neworks" series in 2025 is CONTINUE WORKING and they want to give artists the opportunity to continue research processes they have started and develop them into an evening-long performance.
