LAS Art Foundation presents WE FELT A STAR DYING by Laure Prouvost, a newly commissioned immersive installation that bridges art and quantum physics, on view from February 21 to May 4, 2025, at Kraftwerk Berlin.

LAS Art Foundation showcases Laure Prouvost’s WE FELT A STAR DYING, an art installation exploring quantum phenomena and their sensitivity to cosmic and planetary forces.

Marking the centenary of quantum physics in 2025, this work reflects on the paradigm-shifting potential of quantum technologies.

The installation stems from two years of research and collaboration with philosopher Tobias Rees and scientist Hartmut Neven (Google Quantum AI), whose insights and experiments significantly shaped Prouvost’s approach. With rare access to a quantum computer, the artist created a multi-sensory environment featuring video, sound, scent, and sculpture attuned to the unpredictable nature of quantum logic.

Occupying 3,500 square meters (37,600 square feet) in Kraftwerk Berlin, the work merges Prouvost’s playful, intuitive artistic language with the counterintuitive principles of quantum physics. It represents a new trajectory in her practice, offering a dynamic lens on contemporary technological advances.

This commission inaugurates LAS Art Foundation’s quantum programming, which will include additional installations, a public symposium, and a publication running through 2026.

Laure Prouvost reflects on the process:
“It has been a wonderful, crazy experience of mental exercises, gatherings, and conversations to shift from Newtonian habits to a quantum reality with its micro free spirit and entanglement. This project has opened infinite possibilities and enriched my practice. LAS bridges art and science with rare depth. This exhibition aims to translate quantum effects, entangling us all in a shared state of awareness.”
