CTM Festival 2025

Both performances this evening are about the physical dimensions of sound and music, the limits of human experience and its transformation. The familiar form of the concert is broken up and expanded in order to make sound as something physical and as an expression of bodies experienceable in an intense and immersive way.

As a world premiere, Agustín Genoud presents the audiovisual performance "Songbook of the Apocalypses". In it, the electronically extended voices of an ensemble of experimental vocalists combine with a video production to form an apocalyptic posthuman choir.

The piece, which was created during a residency of the DAAD Berlin Artists' Program in 2024, brings together outstanding vocal performers such as Audrey Chen, Anna Clementi, Alessandra Eramo, Nina Guo, Christian Kesten, Elisabetta Lanfredini, Ligia Liberatori and Ute Wassermann, who embody a range of different voices, bodies and characters with their extended singing techniques in hybrid interaction with technical manipulation.

Ash Fure's "ANIMAL" transcends conventional boundaries of music through the immediate physical interaction with sound as moving air. With a specially made constellation of subwoofers and polycarbonate panels, Fure amplifies the physically perceptible power of sound and invites the audience to experience its friction, vibrations and materiality.

Originally conceived as a "listening gym", the piece draws on influences from techno, Berlin club culture and experimental classical music and addresses the whole-body perception of music.
