Impressive spatial art in Köpenick Palace
A collection of outstanding quality awaits visitors to the museum, ranging from priceless pieces of furniture to tapestries, wall panelling and wallpaper. Further exhibits include mirrors, clocks, lamps and table centrepieces. Today classed as exceptional artworks, these objects once belonged to the standard decor of living and reception rooms in grand houses and palaces.
Among the highlights of the exhibition are the inlaid wainscoting from the palaces Haldenstein and Höllrich from the mid-16th century, the Wiesentheid Chamber of Mirrors from 1724/25 and the Lacquer Room with decorative scenes in the chinoiserie style that was created in 1740/50 for the Palazzo Granieri in Turin. Visitors are able to walk into the rooms and immerse themselves in these impressive interiors.

Permanent exhibition: RoomArt, Furniture and Decorative Art from the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo
Reopened in 2004, Köpenick Palace presents a large number of impressive works of spatial art, which served as wall and room decorations in bourgeois and courtly living quarters during the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods.
Highlights of the exhibition include the remarkably complete and partly walk-in room paneling, as well as the famous silver buffet from the Berlin Palace and the coat-of-arms room decorated with rich stuccowork.
In the baroque attic, visitors can also admire study collections of metal utensils, faiences, glass and porcelain. Multimedia explanations of the palace building and collection and a reading cabinet complete the comprehensive visitor offer.
Special exhibition: Every day at the museum - Guards present their favourite works
The guards of the museums stand every day in front of the works of great artists and guard or inform visitors about them. Some of them now present their very personal view of these works and show you for once other, partly emotional, perspectives. The exhibition can be seen in six houses of the state museums: Altes Museum, Gemäldegalerie, Museum der Europäischen Kulturen, Neues Museum and Schloss Köpenick.
