Südblock

The Südblock at Kottbusser Tor is one of the most important queer party and event spaces in Berlin. The comprehensive, mostly alternative monthly programme includes concerts, readings, parties, quiz evenings, karaoke, and Sunday brunch, thus ensuring the kind of diversity you can probably only find in Kreuzberg.

What makes the Südblock team unique is how inclusive they aim to be: as well as gays and lesbians, the Turkish community from the neighbourhood is also included here. In addition, a regular social advice service is offered here as well. In the summer, you can find the most urban beer garden in Berlin here, with a view of the U-Bahn station. The crowd is international, and artists such as Grimes, Joel Gibbs, and Aérea Negrot have made appearances here in the past.
