A visit to a museum is also a good way to keep the heat at bay for a few hours in summer.On the Museum Island in Berlin-Mitte you can discover art and culture from thousands of years of human history. Visit Nefertiti and the Golden Hat in darkened cool rooms in the Neues Museum, stroll through the sculpture collection in the Altes Museum and enjoy the quiet, cool atmosphere in the beautiful Rotunda.

In the multiplex cinemas, the latest blockbusters are shown, while the smaller houses offer an alternative cinema programme. On warm summer evenings, there is also an excursion to the open-air cinema. The open-air cinemas also offer everything from Hollywood to alternative. Tip 9: Berlin's Unterwelten-Museum

Dive into the Berlin underworlds. During the guided tours through historical bunkers, tunnels and old brewery cellars you will learn a lot about Berlin's history. In addition, you can see some historical features with your own eyes, such as the pneumatic tube system, the former GDR escape tunnels, ammunition finds and archaeological treasures. Not for the faint-hearted!

Tip 10: Shopping malls with air conditioning

Escape the scorching heat by taking a trip to one of the air-conditioned shopping malls in Berlin. There is something for every taste. In the Mall of Berlin you will find all the big chains, but also a few more noble boutiques and a large food court. Pure luxury can be found in the most famous department store in Germany, the KaDeWe, the department store of the West. The Bikini Berlin is the first Concept Mall in Berlin and is located directly at the Zoologischer Garten. Don't forget to make a detour to the roof terrace of the Monkey Bar!

Beer gardens are perfect for cooling off under shady trees and for cool drinks on hot summer days. Beer has been served in the Prater Beer Garden in the Prenzlauer Berg district since 1837, where you can sit together in a relaxed atmosphere. The beer garden is equally popular with Berliners and visitors to the city and is therefore one of the top summer locations in Berlin. Not least because of its traditional beer garden atmosphere on ale-benches under old trees.
