Out and about without barriers in Berlin

Sightseeing without barriers – with BVG and S-Bahn through Berlin

In Berlin you can be on the move without barriers. The local transport companies BVG and S-Bahn Berlin as well as taxis, make sightseeing as easy as possible for you.

Travelling barrier-free through Berlin by public transport

Discover Berlin’s tourist attractions with the bus lines 100 and 200 between Zoo Station in the west of the city and Alexanderplatz in the east. The BVG bus fleet is completely accessible and provides space for prams, wheelchairs and walking frames.

The majority of tram lines also have barrier-free access. An example of where you can find out whether the lifts to the S- and U-Bahn stations are working is at brokenlifts.org. If you are searching for a connection with barrier-free criteria, use the BVG timetable information. After entering the desired route, the filter can be used for a barrier-free travel chain.

The Berlin-Brandenburg transport association (Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg) offers you a free escort service throughout Berlin.

Additionally, many transport hubs such as the Berlin Central Station and Alexanderplatz train station, have disabled accesses to the platforms. The staff on-site will be happy to assist you when embarking the trains. The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg will also support you with an Assistance service.

By the way: With the Berlin Welcome Card – the tourist ticket for public transport – you can discover the whole of Berlin in comfort by bus and rail and you will receive a discount at around 200 Berlin attractions.
