Neighbourhood Day is a nationwide day of action for neighbourly togetherness.
Since 2018, the nebenan.de foundation has been calling for small and large events and celebrations to be held in the neighbourhood on a Friday in May.Every year, hundreds of thousands of people across Germany come together on this day of action to get to know their neighbours, exchange ideas and have a good time together. Neighbourhood Day brings people together regardless of their origin, age, religion or social affiliation and thus strengthens social cohesion in our society in the long term.
Neighbours, organisations, municipalities and local businesses can now register their diverse neighbourhood activities. In addition to the free join-in kit, this year for the first time there will be funding of up to 300 euros for selected campaigns by organisations and private individuals who are committed to combating loneliness and promoting greater togetherness.
