The viola da gamba was a fashionable instrument in England in the 16th and 17th centuries. Music was particularly popular in consorts, i.e. with several instruments of different sizes and designs.
The Ricercar Consort is coming to Spandau with its founder and director Philippe Pierlot to pay homage to this English string art. The focus is on works by Orlando Gibbons, who died 400 years ago in 1625.
