Masterpieces in Berlin
Berlin opera lovers have a choice of three renowned opera houses. The largest of these, the Deutsche Oper in Charlottenburg, can hold up to 1,850 people in its audiences. The oldest opera house in Berlin, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, was built in the mid-18th century in the heart of the royal capital of Frederick the Great. Not far from there, the Komische Oper on Behrenstraße delights music lovers with its extravagant neo-Baroque interior. Contemporary music theatre, meanwhile, is the speciality at Neuköllner Oper, an independent stage on Karl-Marx-Straße.
