A Museum Visit for People with Dementia and their Companions
Experience a cozy and stimulating afternoon in the Jewish Museum Berlin: To start with, there is a coffee table with freshly baked yeast braids. The challah, Hebrew for yeast plait, is eaten on Friday evening, when Shabbat begins according to the Jewish calendar.

Eine Collage aus Papier namens Dorothea von Izhar Patkin aus dem Jahr 2019. Man kann eine Kerze, eine Tasse und eine Büste von Dorothea von Schlegel erkennen.
During this culinary delight, everyone gets to know each other, encounters first-hand objects and exchanges ideas about what Friday evening means to the participants or which yeast cake is the tastiest.
Everyone then visits the “Pictures Make People” exhibition room and looks at three paintings from the 19th century together. They either talk about the topics “Chess in the Salon” and “Celebrations”.
On the topic of “Chess in the Salon”, everyone immerses themselves in 18th century Berlin, gets to know the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn and the salon culture and asks about the role of the game. The paintings on the theme of “Celebrations” allow you to immerse yourself in a private family celebration but also in a lavish party.
Musical accents and objects to touch complement the exhibition visit. Seating is provided in the exhibition.
The event takes place in cooperation with the Alzheimer Society Berlin e.V.
