Neue Schule für Fotografie

Exclusive insights into the work of young talents

Please find out before your visit whether exhibitions are being shown.

New School of Photography is modern, exclusive and individual, as is its exhibitions. The house is located in the vibrant centre of Berlin, which inspires many creative people. Let yourself be carried away by the photographs and projects of the talented students. High-quality graduation work, or the results of seminars and excursions can be admired in the school's gallery. From the impressive previews, The New School of Photography is well established in the photographic scene of Berlin.

From the seminar to the gallery – from the student to you

The "Fotografie am Schiffbauerdamm" school, where internationally renowned photographers teach, is founded in 2001. This becomes the New School of Photography in 2007 owned by the Internationale Akademie für Photographie (IAPh), a non-profit organisation that is committed to the promotion of photography. The exclusive school has only 20 to 30 graduates annually. The challenging international class teaches pupils from different countries, some of whom are already active as photographers. The aim of the 3.5 year training course is to uncover the student's personal, artistic profile – from fashion to documentary and reportage photography. In the small classes, there is plenty of room for individual possibilities to unfold. You will experience this exclusively in the five to six exhibitions that take place annually. Floodlit gallery walls of modern design form the frame, as versatile as the students, photo series and projects on various topics are presented to you. You can also look forward to particularly successful results from open workshops – in which you can also take part. The high quality of the exhibitions is ensured by the renowned lecturers who are internationally active in the field. The main curator of the C/O Berlin, Felix Hoffman, teaches as a guest lecturer. From artistic to documentary, digital to analogue, all areas of photography are represented. At various events, such as the Open Day, you will get even deeper insights into the work at the New School of Photography.
