Flussbad Berlin
Swimming at Museum Island
A swimming trip in Berlin’s historic centre. What might sound like pure fantasy, will soon become reality based on plans by Flussbad Berlin e.V.
The non-profit organisation is planning a 750 metre long swimming pool in the Spree channel between Schlossplatz and the Bode Museum that will be open to the general public. Plans call for a natural wetlands and a reed bed to provide natural purification of the river water. The project is committed to a sustainable, integrative development of the urban environment, while reviving the historic function of this part of the city. Flussbad Berlin is an initiative with origins back in the 1990s.
