The paintings, which Axel Neumann stages in a dark room with light, are up to 5 metres in size. Visitors should be able to experience the immense luminosity and lively aura of his huge worlds of colour, which have been created over years of painstaking painting processes with a cartridge fountain pen.

Axel Neumann came to painting after isolating himself in darkness and silence for three weeks.
The deprivation of stimuli triggered a flood of inner images that burned themselves into his memory like photographs. Since then, he has tirelessly transferred them onto paper. He invites visitors to trust their imagination.

The imagination is one of man's most powerful tools; it is a reservoir of happiness and perhaps even an active shaper of the future. And it is the key to our inner life.
And that is what Axel Neumann is all about: he wants to make people aware of their inner potential again. For him, it is not the picture on the wall that is the real work of art, but the person looking at it.

  • Art: Axel Neumann
  • Curation: Patrizia Neumann
On the day of the opening, 26 April at 7 pm, Axel Neumann and his wife, curator Patrizia Neumann, will give a joint introduction to the history of fountain pen painting and share their knowledge of the ancient tradition of retreating into darkness.
The artist couple want to make art approachable.
An inviting atmosphere is important to them and they look forward to welcoming visitors who want to discover painting for themselves.

Every Friday at 7 pm , they perform together and tell the story of their art.
Interested groups, families with children aged 10 and over and school classes can arrange guided tours in which the topic is presented in an age-appropriate way.
