Performance by Igor Shyshko
A journey through repetition, ecstasy and transformation: The performance “SPELL” by choreographer and dancer Igor Shyshko, which premieres as part of the “VOICES” Festival at Radialsystem, is a swirling contemplation of two dancers and a live musician on the state of the world.
“SPELL” is a ritual choreography about exhaustion and the ambiguity of repetition. There is a power in repetition that works almost like magic:
The repeated execution of the same gesture charges it with defiant power and turns it into a form of political resistance.
“SPELL” is an embodied incantation that defies the impotence of our daily resistance to the chaos that surrounds us. In a magical gesture, people reclaim everyday actions and transform them into a dynamic web of somatic reinterpretations.
