Written language is so familiar that it doesn't even occur to us to question the letters themselves. The 'sound creatures', as they are also called in the Hebrew Ur-Aleph Beth, still have their own names and numerical values.
In the interplay of the orders in which they stand with one another, they tell the story of the world. As in every family, there are different talents, leaders, twins, loud ones, quiet ones, special tasks and similarities. Everyone is indispensable, everyone has equal rights.
As part of her final thesis as a master student at the Free Art School Hamburg (FIU), Sabina Pächnatz portrayed the 27 characters in character studies of the syntheses that gather behind each of them.
The result is 27 abstract oil paintings in different formats and accompanying texts that describe the Aleph Beth as a creative thinking tool that can be understood even without knowledge of the Hebrew language.
