Matt Copson, Miloš Trakilović and Jessica Ekomane

Every Sunday, the mediators invite you to delve deeper into selected topics from our exhibition program. The themed tour Collective Memory and Sound is dedicated to the question of how listening experiences shape and reflect collective memory.

Matt Copson, Miloš Trakilović and Jessica Ekomane create acoustic spaces in different ways in which personal stories are combined with cultural narratives.

In Coming of Age. Age of Coming. Of Coming Age. Matt Copson draws on the tradition of opera, in which singing intensifies emotions and transfers individual experiences into a collective consciousness.

Miloš Trakilović examines Yugoslav music from 1989 to 1992 and, through careful listening and technological processes, traces the echoes of the impending Bosnian war. In Not a Love Song, he uses AI to transform these sound fragments into algorithmic links between past and present experiences.

Jessica Ekomane's Antechamber invites you to reflect on how rhythm influences the perception of space, time and body. Her sound work is a social practice that interweaves sensory and cognitive dimensions and enables shared moments of listening.

Together, these works show how sound can transcend temporal and spatial boundaries to transform individual memories into collective experiences.
