The six cemeteries in front of Hallesches Tor are the oldest Berlin cemeteries where burials still take place today. As a complete ensemble, they are listed as garden monuments. Numerous hereditary burials, wall graves and mausoleums of the 18th and 19th century could be saved from decay in recent years with public monument preservation funds from the federal government, the state office for the preservation of monuments and with own funds of the cemetery association.

The tour with Tillmann Wagner addresses the challenge of preserving the significant stock of monuments in cemeteries and presents successful examples.
