The Jewish Museum Berlin invites you to a symposium on May 6, 2025, to mark the donation of the painting Portrait of Walther Silberstein (1923) by Lovis Corinth. Titled "Looting Without Restitution: The Portrait of Walther Silberstein by Lovis Corinth (1923)," the event will examine the artist's Jewish network, the painting's complex history, and its repeated attempts at restitution.
The symposium is held in honor of Leo Hepner, Silberstein's grandson, who bequeathed the work to the Jewish Museum Berlin in his will. Two thematic panels and musical contributions will accompany the event.
