Sucht & Süchtig - Live 2024 - Mensch sucht Gefühle

The idea for “SUCHT & ADDICTED” came about during her own drug therapy, and the first episode was published in October 2022. In September 2023, the two took the step from the studio to the live stage, which was met with an overwhelming response. In 2024, Hagen and John will continue live with "SUCHT & SÜCHTIG" under the motto "People are looking for feelings".

Hagen Decker and John Cook met not long ago in a Berlin addiction treatment facility. Even though the two had never met each other before, they immediately bonded. Hagen remembers: “We talked for hours on the first day.”

Decker previously worked as a director for music videos by artists such as Tim Bendzko, Juli, Jennifer Rostock and Madsen. John Cook, a graphic designer, grew up in a sheltered home but came into contact with drugs as a teenager. Both are addicts and their drug of choice is cocaine. After their first meeting, the friends developed the concept for "SUCHT & SÜCHTIG" - a podcast that would authentically document their recovery process with all the ups and downs. Ten episodes were recorded during her therapy.

The podcast was created without a sophisticated business concept or commercial considerations. It was an honest attempt at survival - two friends naturally having an open dialogue, with humor not lost despite the gravity of the subject. "SUCHT & ADDICTED" is not a theoretical lecture about addiction, but rather offers a direct and immediate insight into the deep abyss of addiction.

John and Hagen's therapy was successful, and as of this writing they have already produced almost 22 podcast episodes. Over time, "SUCHT & SÜCHTIG" has developed into a podcast for recovering addicts, people who want to get clean, and also for a general audience. The response is impressive, with hundreds of emails and letters. The number of views increases from week to week, and prominent personalities such as Olli Schulz and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf have praised the podcast. At the “German Podcast Prize 2023” award ceremony, the second season of “SUCHT & SÜCHTIG” was awarded in the “Best Independent Podcast” category. The podcast duo have now confirmed that they will be going on tour in March, May and October.
