Every autumn in Berlin, the city centre becomes a radiant spectacle of light and colour during the much-anticipated Festival of Lights. This extraordinary event turns the city's iconic landmarks into glowing canvases, showcasing mesmerising light and video projections. For 8 days in October, Berlin attracts millions of visitors from around the world to witness this shimmering playground of creativity.
Festival of Lights at a glance
From the moment the lights switch on at 7 pm, the city is bathed in a magical glow. Visitors are treated to a feast of visual storytelling as the lights illuminate over 100 of Berlin's most famous landmarks and streets.At Bebelplatz, you'll be surrounded by stunning light projections on three sides, perfectly synchronised to atmospheric music. Another highlight is Potsdamer Platz, where a variety of different light installations are on display. The entire city becomes a gallery under the night sky, from grand structures like the Brandenburg Gate to smaller, hidden spots, all aglow with dynamic displays.
