The portrait plays a central role in Regine Kuschke's work; the human being at the centre of the action fascinates the artist ‘... I am interested in people's stories, their emotions, their relationships to other people and to themselves...’ The ambivalence of the depiction of ‘idylls’, i.e. ‘ideal worlds’ and emerging conflicts, is also thematised in many ways. Regine Kuschke's works can be described as ‘enigmatic realism’.
The master student at the Berlin University of the Arts captures emotions and sensitivities with virtuosity. Whimsical elements form an artificial world where the everyday and the surreal merge. Her works can be seen at the jkd gallery from 15 June to 10 August.
