A pioneer of contemporary oriental dance: in 2006, the Berlin dancer and choreographer Raksan outlined stages of her career, which had already spanned over 20 years, in the circus ring and on the variety stage with her solo piece “Raksan dances: 46 minutes”, oscillating between poetic prop play and powerful wildness, between dance theater and ritual.

In a fluid change from entertainment to seriousness, always balancing on the fine line between fantasies from 1001 nights and real traditions, she shares with her audience her search for an authentic expression in a dance form that does not originate from her own culture and yet touches and inspires her deep inside.

Now the continuation with “Raksan dances: 64 minutes”:

a recording of “46” from 2007 sets the framework for an experiment, for a loving, largely improvised duet with a self 18 years younger.

A tribute to oriental dance as an art of living and to life as an artist!
