The "Projections" festival provides fresh synapses in the head and the necessary soul food at the end of winter. Over ten days, it becomes a canvas for new ideas and combines music with light, colours, shapes and visions.

With this powerful combination, the Konzerthaus Berlin is bringing an old discussion into the present: does music need an extra-musical ally? In the visual world of the 21st century, it should be tried out again and again - at least when it results in such refined, synaesthetically inspiring concerts as "Projections".

The centrepiece on 8 February from 11:00 a.m. is the 13-hour marathon in which all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas will be performed, for the first time in combination with the complete cycle of paintings by the internationally acclaimed Berlin artist Jorinde Voigt.

Further programme highlights:

  • Late at night, KI continues the perspective on Beethoven in the direction of a 33rd piano sonata.
  • The experimental Jack Quartet combines choreographed live performance with virtual worlds.
  • In the mini-series "Visual Music Night", visual artists and DJs join forces with classical musicians.
  • Renowned opera lighting designer Franck Evin immerses Robert Schumann's romantic "Dichterliebe" in new colours.
  • And in "Labyrinth", Lera Auerbach rethinks Modest Mussorgsky's classic "Pictures at an Exhibition" before taking us into her always interdisciplinary "universe".
