Harald Hahn, theater maker and educator, tells the story of his grandfather, Anton Knödler, who was imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp as an "asocial" in a very personal narrative theater piece.
In insightful monologues, Hahn slips into various roles to talk about his grandfather, the shame and family secrets, and his time in the concentration camp.
The Nazi dictatorship persecuted people like him – the poor, the homeless, and those suffering from addiction – as "asocial" individuals who supposedly harmed the "national body." This forgotten group of victims, who even today receive little remembrance or justice, is the focus of the play.
After the play, there will be an opportunity for a discussion with the audience, which will also address the question of what society can actively do to combat stigmatization and exclusion, and which groups of people are still affected by such practices today.
