Shandong Province, on the east coast of China, is considered the important cradle of Chinese civilization and the home of Confucian culture. Famous as the "Home of Confucius and Mencius" and the "Land of Rites", Shandong offers a rich cultural heritage, picturesque natural landscapes and hospitable people.

The Yellow River, known as the lifeline and mother river of Chinese civilization, crosses nine provinces and regions on its 5,464-kilometer journey before flowing into the Bohai Sea in the city of Dongying.

On July 18, the photo exhibition "Confucius' Homeland - Hospitable Shandong" opens at the Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin. This exhibition is jointly organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin and the Office of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province.

45 photographs are shown under the theme "Encounter with the Sea on the Yellow River", depicting beautiful world heritage sites, famous natural landscapes and regional folk customs along the Yellow River in Shandong.

This exhibition gives the German public an insight into the regional history, culture, natural landscapes and folk customs of Shandong Province.

In the words of Confucius: "When friends come from afar, is that not a cause for joy?", Shandong still invites people from all over the world to explore the history of Chinese civilization, admire impressive landscapes with famous mountains and rivers and experience the unique customs of the ancient Shandong Qilu culture.
