The ‘Open Gardens Berlin-Brandenburg’ series of events offers the opportunity to discover an impressive variety of private gardens. In times of growing environmental awareness, sustainable and natural garden concepts are increasingly coming into focus. The participating gardens present a wide range of design ideas that not only inspire visually, but also create valuable retreats for flora and fauna.
The open gardens range from colourful flower paradises to natural habitats and innovative and creative garden concepts. Birds, insects and small animals find a home here, as do native plant species, which are preserved and nurtured through careful maintenance.
In 2025, 135 gardens will open their doors from 12 April to 22 November, supplemented by additional dates in the winter months of January, February and March 2026.
The main dates on 10/11 May and 13/14 September are particularly worthwhile, when numerous gardens are in full bloom. While in May the fresh green is dominated by irises, azaleas and rhododendrons, in September dahlias, asters and the colours of the autumn foliage are enchanting. Additional individual opening dates highlight special flowering highlights, including roses, daylilies or phlox.
Special highlights
The historic courtyards and gardens in the Bohemian Village in Berlin-Neukölln open in May, as do two charming backyard gardens in Weißensee and near Ku'damm. Allotment gardens in Spandau, Schöneberg, Tempelhof and Altglienicke invite you to explore. In Marzahn, a passionate camellia and rhododendron grower presents his plants, while in Rudow, roses are bred with great dedication. Outside Berlin, in Falkenrehde, the focus is on breeding magnificent daylilies, while in the dahlia garden at Stechlinsee, the breeding work of Prof. Otto is continued.
Besides these special gardens, there are many more to discover – from romantic villa gardens and inspiring artists' gardens to small private house gardens and historic parks. They all surprise with creative design ideas, whether in spacious areas or in artfully designed small oases.
