World War II in Europe ended with the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht on May 8, 1945, in Berlin-Karlshorst. But what did this end of the war mean for people back then – and what does it mean today?

Conceived by the Standing Conference of Nazi Memorial Sites in the Berlin Area, it is expected to be on display at Pariser Platz from May 2 to 11.
