Claudia Balsters and Hannah Goldstein

In the exhibition “NOT YOU ALONE – Women in the Resistance”, the artists Claudia Balsters and Hannah Goldstein shed light on the role of women in the resistance against National Socialism.

They particularly commemorate the Berlin resistance fighter Annedore Leber, the widow of the SPD politician and resistance fighter Julius Leber, who was executed by the National Socialists. In the 1950s, Annedore Leber published writings about the German resistance together with Willy Brandt.

In the exhibition, the artists present various facets of female resistance through staged photography, collage, installation and video.

These works pay homage to all those women who fought without weapons in a variety of roles, forged connections, supported strategies and secured daily life.
