The Myth: last day is centered around a prefabricated archaeological mine, where a pseudo-archaeologist digs herself out from the ground. Being both, the researcher and the subject, the investigator and the suspect, she playfully attaches stories to the everyday objects that she is excavating.

In a doomsday-concert, the researcher becomes a chaotic metalhead, animating the ruins, exploring reasons to project towards the future and stay on the surface.

Rumour has it that over centuries the layers underneath the ground have preserved friction energy from sociologic changes and collective reconfigurations. The crust of the earth has stored geological activities, memories and marches, generating magnetic heat and making it possible, in ideal circumstances, to defeat the decomposition of flesh.

The Estonian choreographer Netti Nüganen has been to Sophiensæle already many times performing in Florentina Holzingers shows and now finally comes to Berlin for the first time with her own work. The piece intertwines reality and fiction, and creates myths, thereby constructing speculative pasts and futures. The Myth: last day has won the prize for the best Estonian performing arts production in 2022.
