Where history writes the future
The Stiftung Mitte Berlin (SMB) and Berlin's civic associations invite you to MITTE-FEST 2025 – a special cultural weekend in the heart of Berlin.
To mark Open Monument Day, the SMB will be celebrating at the Parochialkirche Berlin, Klosterstraße 67, on Friday and Saturday, 12 and 13 September, with a varied programme focusing on the city's history, monument preservation and the future of Berlin's Mitte district.
Berlin's Mitte district is more than just a place – it is a mission. At the Mitte Festival 2025, which takes place on the Open Monument Weekend, it will become clear why the restoration of the historic centre goes beyond architecture: it stands for democracy, building culture and quality of life. Experts, cultural figures and citizens will come together at the Parochialkirche (Klosterstraße 67, 10179 Berlin) to discuss the past and future of the heart of the capital.
The patron is General Music Director Christian Thielemann.
Guests can look forward to free city tours, the exhibition ‘Mitte für Anfänger’ (Mitte for Beginners), lectures, live music and sing-alongs, inexpensive food and drinks, discussions and encounters – with Prof. Dr. Martina Abri (conservationist of Berlin's Schinkel buildings), Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schmid (philosopher and author), Dr Benedikt Goebel (urban researcher) and many more.
The highlight on Saturday evening is the lecture ‘Finding a home in the city’ and the subsequent philosophical discussion with Wilhelm Schmid.
