In 2014, Paweł Pawlikowski's black-and-white drama "Ida" won the first and so far only Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film – a historic moment for Polish cinema. Ten years later, it's worth taking a look at its development: What has happened? And what significance does it have for us today?
10 Years After "Ida" – A Journey Through Modern Polish Cinema
The monthly film series at City Kino Wedding is dedicated to precisely these questions – and the results are impressive: Three Oscar nominations, two awards at Cannes, numerous Silver Bears at the Berlinale, and 16 European Film Awards testify to the international comeback of Polish film. Productions such as "Zone of Interest," "A Real Pain," and "Girl with a Needle" also demonstrate that foreign studios are increasingly collaborating with Polish filmmakers.
The series presents the most outstanding films of the last decade – works that are already classics or are yet to become classics. Whether romantic comedy, horror, animation, or historical epic – Polish directors capture universal dreams, fears, and hopes and bring them to the screen.
