“Økse” is Danish and means axe in German. At the same time, the Danish pronunciation is similar to the word “Ashé” from the African Yoruba religion, where it describes the universal life energy. And just as this energy flows through everything living, the music of the new quartet of the Danish saxophonist Mette Rasmussen, which opens the second festival evening of A L’ARME!, also sounds intuitive, authentic, spiritual.

This is followed by an audiovisual world premiere: the electroacoustic formation Ephemeral Fragments of the Berlin synthesizer virtuoso Korhan Erel and the top improvisers from Essen Emily Wittbrodt on cello and Florian Walter on tubax meet for the first time the Berlin A/V team “1:∞” around Lena Czerniawska and Emilio Gordoa.

Since the beginning of the festival, A L’ARME! a close relationship with the Scandinavian creative music movement. In addition to "Økse" and Paal Nilssen-Love, another Scandinavian insider tip, guitarist and bassist Nicolas Leirtrø from Trondheim, will be joining the festival finale. "Power jazz to the people!" is the motto of I Like To Sleep, who are currently one of Norway's most exciting newcomers.

After sharing the stage with Paal Nilssen-Love and Keiji Haino on the opening night, Sofía Salvo will present her latest quartet project, Yexxen, on the festival Friday - a supergroup between composition and deconstruction that brings together the London and Neukölln noise punk underground in the Radialsystem.

The multi-instrumentalists Morten Joh Olsen and Anders Hana have enjoyed cult status in Europe and beyond as the industrial noise duo Moha! since the 2000s. They recently celebrated their comeback on the international stage under the new name Naaljos Ljom.

Their Nordic folk concept combines drum machines, microtonally tuned guitars and modular synthesizers with traditional Scandinavian instruments such as the Langeleik and Jew's harp - and forms the danceable conclusion to the second day of the festival.
