Japanese film series “AugenBlicke im Schloss”

Dörrie is also inspired by Ozu's work; it is no coincidence that the film Cherry Blossom Hanami begins similarly to "Tokyo Monogatari" (The Journey to Tokyo): the already sick parents from the Bavarian province travel to Berlin to visit their children and grandchildren, who have no have time for them.

In "Cherry Blossoms" Dörrie approaches Japanese culture, especially the Japanese dance Butho, which does not have a fixed form and was created after the Second World War. Butho means dance of darkness. The white full body color is intended to remind us of the ashes after a person's death. This brings the plot full circle: because it's about a dignified death.
